Hello, I’m Fiona Wilcock, a potter living in Chesham, Buckinghamshire, UK.
I enjoy the rhythm of throwing clay, and the joy of creating curves and shape.
I aim to find a balance between function and form, and make both functional domestic ware, tiles and raku vessels. I design and make ceramic tiles often based on geometric designs.
A myriad of colours, textures and patterns can be created in ceramics. I particularly enjoy carving designs on plates and carving plaster to make moulds for pressing tiles.
I also fire in a Raku kiln, making naked and glazed vessels. Raku needs patience and nerve as it can yield unpredictable as well as exciting results.
I work in my summerhouse sometimes joined by my Airedale Terrier.
